As an avid reader, I often find myself checking out www.barnesandnoble.com. I prefer this site to any other for a few reasons, but most importantly because it is SO simple to find a great book that I'll end up loving. The structure of the site is great with tons of information available without being cluttered or overwhelming. When you first enter the site there is a horizontal row of clean text that changes color and you glide over it. It allows you to choose the major category your looking for such as books versus magazine or music. On the opening page they also almost always have clearly labeled discount information. Usually a few different offers going on each made distinctly identifiable by the color of the box surrounding the text. There is also always a list of the current hours best sellers and you can just click on one of the books on the list and be brought to a page that summarizes it and asks if you'd like to make the purchase. There is also a link the the well-known New York Times Bestseller list if you'd prefer to make your selection based on that list. Once you've registered with the site and have a login name and password the website also keeps track of all the books you've most recently viewed ( like over the past month) and you can click on any of the books on that list and a link will again take you to a page that summarizes it and ask if you'd like to make the purchase. It is never hard to navigate, because it is always clear what exactly you're clicking on and all the lists of books link the summaries of the actual books. The layout of the site contains an awful lot of text but it is organized and never cluttered. They make it so easy to find books that will interest ME and MY likes and that's why I've never ordered books from anywhere but here. Literally almost every piece of text that papers on the page is actually a link to a new page that will get you a step closer to finding the perfect books. Also, I've never experiences and technological issues with the links or anything which only makes it all the better!

I usally order books from Amazon, but when I saw this post, I decided to compare the two sites and I agree that Barnes & Noble is much easier to get through. I like how they managed to make their color scheme simple, without using the common black with blue links that annoys me so much. Also, the typeface, its placing, and its variation in size make it more legible and give it a hierarchy that I feel Amazon lacks.
